(2B) Mapping the Past into the Future

Innovation in Transportation

Enej Hasicevic Lukac and Sebastian Jimenez

Air transportation is the safest way to travel around the world. However, if there is an issue with a plane, and a crash is about to happen, the chances of surviving are really low, especially if the plane crashes on land. On average, there is a 1000 deaths per year involving plane accidents. Our project tries to reduce that average bt providing a parachute on planes. Parachutes are already available on small planes, because they fly on lower speeds, heights, and weights; our project is focused on bigger planes.

We figured out a safer way to be able to eurvive plane crashes. With this technology alot more lives are gonna be saved and a lot more people are gonna feel safer going on planes.

Leadership and Teamwork Portfolio

We have been playing sports together since elementary school. It started with basketball and once we both got to the upper school, softball was added into the mix. As much as we love our athletics and our teammates, we couldn't ignore the fact that the constant bickering made us not want to be there. We wanted to create something that would put teams in an environment where they had to count on each other, and where leaders can learn to step and lead. Our first idea was to build a low ropes course on campus. However, we quickly realized we did not have enough time to pursue a project of this enormity. With that thought in mind we decided to shrink down the ropes course into a mobile version, one that would be accessible to not only All Saints athletes but everyone. So we came up with the Boot Camp App. This app contained teamwork exercises, ones we even tried with our own teammates, along with quotes to inspire the players, premade playlists for the team to listen to while they work out, and a chat room for the coaches to discuss what worked with their teams and what didn't. Do to our own experiences, the app works quite well and would be a useful tool for any sports team, or even businesses. We are proud of our finished project and intend on bettering the app in the future. -Tara Weirather & Peyton Dunbar
