(3B) Immersive Storytelling

Build 1

Quinn Brown

Here is Brandon working on our first small-scale model of our future project. In Brandon's post you can find out final materials list in a spread sheet.

Robin enlightens us with Dolby

Zachary Stanley

So Robin came in today (10-10-2016) and told us about Dolby Surround sound 7.1.

The Dolby Surround sound is able to add two discrete channels of sound to increase the realism of all types of movies, games, or any virtuality.  Although the only setback for this is cost.  The Dolby Surround sound 7.1 cost around $1,428.  Right now, today, Brock and I are going to brainstorm what room we will use for the surround sound, and if we will possibly create a room for solely for the purpose of bouncing around to create a more immersive virtual reality experience.

today me and vicky made a example of how our spatial sound tile looks. we are using clips as the hinges, and the wires, and batteries are to light the led so it can stay on.

Forest:

You are in a dark spooky haunted forest.

*sounds of crickets, and trees rustling in the midnight air*

You are standing there, when you hear someone….or something….approach from your behind.

*the sound of footsteps approaching in crunchy crunchy leaves!! Some sticks break beneath the pressure of the foot.*

*owls hoo*

*heavy breathing*

*scream reasonably nearby*

*bag over head noise*

You can smell the trees and feel the cold wind from the trees

Children:

*scary kid music*

*scary kid laugh*

*rocking chair noise*

*slam door*

our spatial sound story idea

Van Sloan

you walk into a room and it's dark. you hear a sound, and  you have to figure out where that sound is coming from. the sound keeps going off from the same tile. if you step on the wrong tile it makes ascreaming noise or different scary sounds, and turns red. after you step on the wrong tile everything turns black. you start over then you hear the good noise again. then you keep going until you find the blue tile. you hear a noise again coming from the next tile. you step on the wrong tile, and it turns red, and makes a scary sound. you hear another sound then you accidently step on two tiles, and they both light up so now you're confused. there is a rail around all of the tiles so you won't step out of the area.  you keep doing all this until you find your way out the room.

Day 3

Quinn Brown

Today I researched Laser tripwires that if they are broken, it would play a sound, to better immerse the person.  For example, if you where in an arctic enviornment and it where tripped, it would play the sound of crushing snow.

youre in a room and its dark and you have to step on the right tile and it lights up. If you step on the wrong tiles it buzzes and turns red, then you have to start over.
