Narrative Stop Motion

Narrative Stop Motion

Asli Arpak

In this studio, students will explore the practice of storytelling. Storytelling is the social and cultural activity of sharing stories, often with improvisation, theatrics, or embellishment. Stories or narratives have been shared in every culture as a means of entertainment, education, cultural preservation and instilling moral values. Over the past century, movies have developed to be one of the most prominent tools for storytelling. Students will use the processes of narrative development, storyboarding, filming, and editing to create short films that tell a story. Cinemographic methods such as stop motion, scale shift, claymation, and other special effects will be used to support the narratives that students develop.
