Most Alzheimer's patients get lost simply because they forget directions or can't remember where they were going. We first came up with the idea when we were looking into types of jewelry older people wear and one of the things that we found was medical bracelets. After looking into some different types of medical bracelets, we realized that they are not very sophisticated in design. From that point forward we tried to come up with a way to make medical bracelets look more appealing for women with Alzheimer disease.
At first we were going to make our jewelry by casting our own bracelet designs using molds and resin. However, after trying a couple of times to cast small beads in the molds, the resin would not harden enough to make beads that were usable for our bracelets. That is when we decided to use the 3D printer to make our bracelets. Using the program Tinkercad, we were able to print our bracelets much easier. It took a couple of tries to get the bracelet to turn out correctly, but eventually we were able to create a final product.
