End of week blog post

This week we have made very good progress. We made a new and bigger model of our project. We had to expand the rhino file to make the sides bigger and the floor as well. We ran into trouble with support for the roof. As we experimented with different types of support we came to the conclusion of a dowel in the middle for support. We added circular filters on the sides instead of the shape geometric triangles. We changed the top of our drums as well to show the color. Next week we plan to cut out pieces complete scale.

Today we laser cut a new model for our hexagon. We took the roof of our old one and put it on the new one. The shadows works on the new one but look better on the first model.

Today we made a new roof with the new colored plastic. The first roof we made only had 2 colors but this time we took multiple colors and cut them and glued them to a sheet of clear plastic for the new roof. We took it outside in the sun to check how good it looked and it looked good. The circles on the inside represent the drums that go on the inside.

Today we decided that we are going to add drums to are structure and that each drum will represent a colour and its wave length

Today we built our scale model for our hexagon. It is about 7 inches tall (1 inch = 1 foot). In our model we decided to only use 2 colors for the color window at the top because it is easier to see the color but in our real project we still plan to use multiple colors. The space where it is open we plan to have a sliding door.

Today we found out the shape and style and idea for our project. We still wanted to have the seeing through color idea but we also wanted to make it interactive so we thought of playing drums like the plastic ones on the playground. We decided to combine the ideas and right now we plan to use it to teach about sound wave lengths.
